What is the most important to us currently?
– GWSN
Something about Red Sun was familiar to me. Along with some of the other songs in the album, I couldn’t shake of that it reminded me of another thing. That was when I clicked Sunny Side up in my Spotify playlist and realised, “Festival theme”. Girls in the Park have the theme of the fairground, mysterious and magical things, but Red Velvet also came back this summer with a similar concept. The colours are even the same…
Despite this I think that the songs are very different, even though they reminded me of each other. What do you think? Was this a clash of themes?
As always, GWSN is easy listening. I don’t dislike a single song, find some I prefer but various moods for each! In the album, my favourite probably resides with Red Sun and Blackout. These summer bops really make the day exciting, even if I’m lazing away to the heat. All the members look incredible in their airy outfits. They certainly make me want to buy some flowing clothing to catch the wind in this hot weather. Song is one of my favourites for this summer, alongside many others such as Really Really by Cherry Bullet. This summer the songs have caught my attention with a lot of great songs, but Red Sun is still just as enjoyable as the others.

Who do you think looked the best this comeback?
Miya’s rap absorbed me again. Although I am not a fan of rap, Miya’s voice always captures me in and her presence if phenomenal. I can’t wait to see more of her doing this. There’s something about her movement and attitude at the seconds following 1:45 that make me watch it over and over again.
The quality of the music video is surreal. It is not a hidden joke in the community that the budget for their videos seem to be not stingy in the slightest. Part of the enjoyment with GWSN is watching the video alongside the music. They’re for certain: entertainment. The dancing is adorable and catchy – I found myself trying to simulate the moves when I wasn’t even listening to the song.
Holistically, Red Sun is my least favourite out of GWSN title songs, but that means nearly nothing in terms of my like for the song. If I had to rank the song I’d say maybe 6/10? I never quite know how to rank things. It’s not an average song, so not a 5, but it’s not my favourite. There are other songs I prefer.
